From the Clinic to the Studio…

Throughout my childhood, I spent a majority of my free time playing sports, doodling, and being creatively curious. When I wasn’t on the court or on the field, I was inside experimenting with different writing styles and art mediums, or admiring handcrafted signage at Trader Joe’s.

Sports injuries plagued my high school sports experience and I got to know my local physical therapy clinic all too well. These first-hand experiences and exposure to PT naturally carved a path to pursuing it as a profession and, in 2017, I graduated with a Physical Therapy degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

Practicing PT was very stimulating and rewarding, but my creative drive felt neglected and full of wonder. I decided it was time to explore this further, uprooting a life I had worked hard for and going back to school for Visual Communication Design.

A background in healthcare taught me a lot about how our bodies operate—how they function, how they heal and protect against injury, and how they respond to changing environments. I’ve come to learn that visual design systems work in similar ways—they function in effective messaging, prevent miscommunication, and must constantly adapt to marketing landscapes.

Physical Therapy and Design processes are a lot alike as well, both requiring in-depth research and the ability to listen, empathize, and collaborate to yield the best possible outcomes. While the pivot from healthcare to Design is a little unconventional, I’ve whole-heartedly enjoyed repurposing my skills into the work I do as a designer. I look forward to bringing my thoughts, perspectives, and creativity to the table as we strategically craft your brand from the bottom up.
